​​Global Talent Visa Program Requirements

Introduction

The Global Talent Visa Program was initiated by the Federal Government to attract highly experienced and talented individuals with certain skills to migrate permanently to Australia.

Requirements

A prospective visa applicant (Applicant) must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the Global Talent Visa Program:

1. Target Sectors

The Applicant will need to demonstrate to be highly skilled in any one of the following 10 target sectors:

  • Resources
  • Agri-food and AgTech
  • Energy
  • Health Industries
  • Defence, Advanced Manufacturing and Space
  • Circular Economy
  • DigiTech
  • Infrastructure and Tourism
  • Financial Services and FinTech
  • Education

2. Talent

The Applicant must demonstrate the following:

(a)  has an internationally recognised record of exceptional and outstanding achievement in one of the following areas:

(i)  a profession;

(ii)  a sport;

(iii)  the arts;

(iv)  academia and research; and

(b)  is still prominent in the area; and

(c)  would be an asset to the Australian community; and

(d)  would have no difficulty in obtaining employment, or in becoming established independently, in Australia in the area; and

(e) have a recognised organisation or individual in Australia nominate them as global talent, in the same field as the applicant.

3. High Threshold Salary

The Applicant would need to demonstrate the ability to secure a salary at or above the Fair Work High income threshold of $153,600 AUD. Note: the threshold amount may change time to time.

The Department will consider the following evidence to consider whether the prospective Applicant meets this requirement:

  • current salary shown through payslips or a contract, or
  • future job offers outlining remuneration, or
  • recent PhD graduates in the target sectors.
